TONEX Board merges TONEX and AmpliTube into one floorboard

Amp modelers keep solving the same problem in slightly different boxes: one engine for capturing tones, another for stacking effects, and a signal chain that forces you to choose which matters more. Most flagship units respond by adding more of everything and calling it an ecosystem. That’s roughly what’s happening here.

TONEX Board takes IK Multimedia’s two existing engines, the AI-trained TONEX capture technology and the AmpliTube multi-FX suite, and runs them side by side in a dual-signal-chain architecture. Up to four tone models can run simultaneously, and the unit offers up to 12 tone model and effects slots total. If you’ve used any previous TONEX hardware, this is the same toolset with more headroom, not a rebuilt platform.

The number that actually matters to a buyer is the tone library. It ships with 2000 tone models out of the box, pulled from TONEX Max and other libraries, with close to 200 captures credited to named Tone Partners like Amalgam Audio and Jason Sadites. Beyond that, ToneNET adds more than 60,000 additional models and presets. That’s a genuinely large library, but library size stopped being a differentiator years ago. Every modeler in this price bracket claims thousands of captures.

The interface, a 5 inch touchscreen plus five hands-on controls, two menu knobs, and four footswitches, is the part that will decide whether this feels fast on a gig or fiddly. IK hasn’t published a price or ship date on the product page as scraped here, so treat this as an announcement, not a release. If you already own AmpliTube and a TONEX capture library, this is the hardware that finally stops making you pick one.
