About

producer.news is a news site about the tools of music production: VST and AU plugins, virtual instruments, effects, DAWs, hardware synths, and the deals and free tools worth knowing about.

We read the developer's own announcement, check the details, and write a short, plain piece: what the tool does, what is genuinely new, and whether it is worth your time. No hype, no manufactured urgency.

News goes up through the week. Three other parts of the site do not age: guides explaining the techniques behind the tools, a directory of free plugins you can download without an account, and an audio DSP page tracking the open-source projects plugins are built on, with code snippets and the reading worth your time.

A word about the business side. producer.news is run by the team behind Rave Generation, which makes audio plugins. We link to Plugin Boutique as an affiliate and earn a commission when you buy through those links, which helps pay for the site. Rave Generation products are covered by the same rules as everyone else's. Sponsored pieces are labelled as sponsored.
