Hermetic Modular's Alchemy Lab is an open SDK Eurorack platform
Building your own Eurorack module from scratch means designing a PCB, sourcing a processor, writing firmware from zero, and machining or 3D-printing a panel before you have anything you can patch into a rack. That barrier is why most “make your own module” ambitions stall at the breadboard stage. A handful of platforms have tried to lower it by giving you the hardware and letting you supply the code: Noise Engineering’s Alia, Versio and Legio lines, and Bastl’s Kastle 2, are the reference points here.
Hermetic Modular’s Alchemy Lab works the same way. It’s a 12HP, skiff-friendly module built around an Electrosmith Daisy (STM32H750 at 480 MHz, 64 MB SDRAM, 16 MB flash), with six potentiometers, three buttons, a USB-C MIDI port, ten jacks and a microSD slot. Six of the ten jacks are CV ins and outs that are firmware-controllable and fully exposed to the SDK. The remaining four are stereo audio in and out at up to 96 kHz / 24-bit. There are 102 individually addressable RGB LEDs per module for visualizing whatever state your firmware wants to show. A rear SPI/I2C header is there for expanders and companion hardware, which Hermetic Modular says are coming soon.
The whole hardware abstraction layer is open-source, according to the developer, meaning the platform itself, not just the patches you build on top of it, is hackable.
Two finished modules launch alongside the platform: ECHOA, a stereo dual delay and reverb with four delay lines (1ms to 16 seconds each, routable in series, parallel, isolation or spectrally), and SPAYROS. No pricing or ship date is given yet.
